...that they’re pushing the Ridgeline articles a little *too* hard?
Perhaps to, um, “sell” the vehicle to us doubting Thomases? Will the next Ridgeline post come with a Gawker Commerce Department tag?

I’m neither journalist nor shill, but it’s possible that Andrew just feels like the world has a chip on its shoulder over the Ridgeline’s truck credentials and has to overcompensate. I can’t say I disagree, but considering how few Honda sold (or will sell), it does seem to take up disproportionate space on Truck Yeah. I mean, what is the Ridgeline compared to an F-150 or Silverado? Not even on their radar and I doubt they’ll be adapting to its new tech anytime soon. I think we’d all rather see these column inches dedicated to more Unimog, offroading, and/or swamp buggy coverage.

Not really, it was the same with the then-new F150 and most other big releases. I guess they have a similar idea as Kotaku: follow up on new cars/trucks, rather than doing just one preview and/or review. It offers the possibility to go more in-depth, but more articles also mean more clicks, and that’s quite certainly a consideration as well.

Well it was just released, so after a few months they’ll be back to the next newest thing. It is called “news” after all, and the other truck companies aren’t really doing anything new.

Eh, I see your point, but I think it’s more a product of there not being a ton of news right now.

“it does seem to take up disproportionate space on Truck Yeah”
Which is ironic, since it’s not a truck...

As an Odyssey owner, I just read Ridgeline articles for ideas. TRUE BURN!

Or maybe he just has a Ridgeline to put through its paces, and he’s being thorough about it while he can? Dunno, I haven’t been following. There’s plenty of other stuff to click on that I don’t feel deprived.

As a Sienna owner, I just read Ridgeline articles for the comments.

Naturally...you have to keep up with what the competition is doing.

Hey now. That's also where the crossover coverage goes. Still works.

They do seem to be shilling it pretty hard, but it’s been a pretty highly anticipated truck crossover for a while now, and there isn’t much else new on the market at the moment. It was the same story when the Colorado/Canyon, Tacoma, TitanXD, and F-150 came out. I do think that they’re pushing the Ridgeline a bit more than most though, because they’re also pushing their city minded belief that this is “the most truck anyone will ever need”. Personally I’m fine with it for now because it’s a new truck crossover, and I’m interested in what it has to offer. Treating it like it’s the holy grail of pickups and is some new platform of innovation is a little annoying though, same with the constant attempts at justifying that “it is too a real pickup guys! It can do all this stuff, which is really impressive for what it is!” instead of just telling what it is; a capable crossover with an open bed, suitable for utility work and occasional light towing.

Honda is definitely pushing vehicle advertising. The Smoking Tire has reviewed the new Civic, Pilot, and MDX. Hooniverse reviewed the RL recently. None of these vehicles are for their target audience. I don’t think they would of reviewed them just for the revshare. The current gen MDX has been out since 2014. Honda must be paying them.

The front page itself comes off as if there’s nothing to write about. Seems they keep asking Torch to take his drugs and write some crazy articles.

Eh, no worse than any other product launch. The article on the 4wd system is worthwhile on its own, as the system is different than what is used in other trucks.
That said, I’d like to see them compare a loaded up Ridgeline ($41k) against a zero-options Power Wagon ($43k after $4k rebate) for S&Gs. Because, despite the close pricing, nobody will ever cross shop them.
